Body slender, anterior section slightly cylinder-shaped and posterior section compressed; head small; snout bluntly conical and with small side lobes in triangle-shape in two sides; rostral skin extending downward, covering upper jaw and margin tasseled; mouth inferior; upper lip absent; lower lip separated from lower jaw, with a transverse belt in anterior part and covered with papilla on it; upper and lower jaws covered with thin cutin edges; eyes intermediate size; barbells 2 pairs, rostral one longer than half of orbital diameter and located in tip of snout side groove, maxillary one very small and concealed in mouth corners; lateral line scales 36-38. Body color grayish black on dorsal and sides and with cloudy stripes, abdomen grayish white; upper dorsal fin and middle anal fin grayish black; caudal fin gray and with black lower margin; eyes red in life.

主要栖息于底多岩石清江河的下层，刮食着生藻类。体型较小，体长一般为100-150mm
